The back to school season is associated with the risk for meningitis because of an associated rise in intimate behaviors. It pays to be aware of facts about meningitis - what it is, if it is contagious, and symptoms.
Symptoms of meningitis are easily mistaken with those of the flu. They include, among other things, a stiff neck and sensitivity to light. So don't take a chance - see a doctor even if you don't think you have meningitis, but you do have symptoms of the flu. It may save your life.
