Depression and Chronic Back Pain

For people with chronic back pain, depression can rear its ugly head.

Does your back pain rule your life? If your attitude is fabricated around the pain you might not be getting the best outcomes from all that you do for yourself. While depression is often unavoidable in cases of chronic back pain, there is hope.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a short term process with a qualified psychologist that has shown (via research) to be very effective in matters of coping with pain and depression. About.com’s Depression guide, Nancy Schimelpfening, has a great introductory article on cognitive behavioral therapy.
