Okay, so the holidays left you with extra poundage. On top of that, you may find yourself in a position where you're adding that extra weight to an unwelcome mass that was present prior to Halloween. Instead of obsessing over it, I've found the best attitude I can adopt is "that's the past." The calendar has flipped over to another year, and you and I can flip our attitudes, too.
Along with beauty issues associated with too much fat, there are the usual health concerns medical experts correlate with obesity - heart disease, diabetes, cancer. But did you know that carrying extra weight also affects your back? Yep. It complicates and/or increases your risk for a number of back problems including:
- Spinal arthritis
- Hardening of the ligaments (a condition known as DISH)
- Disc herniation
- Discogenic pain
- Results of back surgery
So now you have another reason to get back on course with weightloss, proper nutrition and an active lifestyle!
