Well, it's that time of year again, where you go shopping for holiday gifts for family and friends. Ho, ho, ho!
You may have people with spinal issues to shop for, or you may be the one with neck or back pain who needs a gift of care. Either way, one great idea is a massage. This would be a gift I would respond well too - hint, hint.
However, it's wise to tread with caution when giving the gift of massage to a person with back pain. A few years ago, I interviewed Mary Beth Braun, the then president of the American Massage Therapy Association to learn best practices for picking a therapist who can do a neck or back good. Check it out.
And for some of us one massage just isn't enough. In that case, might I suggest adding a shiatsu chair to your furniture set? That way you can get a massage every day if you want. (Don't balk. If it's just too expensive, you can get many of the same benefits using a massage cushion.) Either way, check out my short guide to massage chairs and cushions.
