I am pleased to announce that About.com Health took Silver in the Best Health/Healthcare Content in a Consumer General site category at this year's eHealthcare Leadership Awards. The award was presented by Strategic Health Care Communications; About.com Health was one of over 1100 entries, which included notable organizations such as the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic and the American Medical Association.
While the Health Channel has won industry awards before, I love this one because it highlights the hard work my colleagues and I put into our articles and blog posts every month.
We wouldn't have been equipped to take 2nd place among so many prestigious organizations if we were not tasked with producing engaging content that features accurate, relevant medical content. For every article you read that contains a "statement of medical fact", hours of research and interviews are conducted. We reference medical journals, speak with leading national experts and send our final drafts through a rigorous medical review process.
And while we may drown ourselves in jargon, complex concepts and statistics during the research and writing phase, we don't bother you with all that... Our hallmark is to synthesize the information into a quick and enjoyable read for you.
I feel privileged to call so many qualified health professionals my colleagues. About.com Health Guides are patient advocates, medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, wellness professionals, nurses, physical therapists and more. I never stop learning from them!
As you partake of the health contents on this site - from back pain to pediatrics (and so many more topics) - I hope you know you are getting factual information, designed to answer your most pressing questions. As the eHealthcare Leadership award reflects, you can trust what you read on the About.com Health Channel.
