October 8 – 12th is Back Care Awareness Week in the United Kingdom. This public campaign, called Keep Moving, Keep Living, is sponsored by Back Care: The Charity for Healthier Backs. The events and messages of the week focus on adapting an active lifestyle to prevent back pain.

According to the organization, a 2000 survey, published in the British Medical Journal, showed nearly half of all U.K. adults experienced back pain lasting at least 24 hours during the course of one year. The Back Care Awareness Week is an opportunity to get motivated and learn how to make small incremental changes in habits, so that you can avoid being a part of the statistic.

If you live in or are visiting the U.K., Back Care’s website to find out about what’s happening throughout the week.

For a more ongoing reminder on the topic of adapting a healthy lifestyle, there is also Healthy Monday. Healthy Monday is the January 1st of the week, a day to start fresh with good intentions for a healthy lifestyle. This article tells you all you need to know about Healthy Monday.
