Care and Feeding of the Intervertebral Disk

  • Drinking plenty of pure water allows the disks to reach their full volume, which, in turn, will enable them to offer more shock absorbing protection to the spine.
  • Staying active will give the vertebra and the interveterbral disks opportunities to move, which, in turn, will allow for the flow of water and other nutrient-containing fluids into the nucleus pulposus.
