What activities did you do before your injury?

I had a full range of activities prior to my injury, walking, swimming, lifting, etc.

What was it like to need to scale your activities back?

It was horrifying to realize that the thing that hurt the worst was sitting. I sit all day long at work, standing and typing on a computer that was at desk level was not an option.

Being restricted to lifting 5 lbs or less is very difficult, and can totally alter the way I approach my daily tasks.

Tips and Tricks

  • I've learned to ask for help when I need it, rather than being stubborn, doing it myself, and suffering for it later.
  • I've learned that gentle activity can actually help my pain level and should not be avoided.
