Muscle Relaxant

I take an over the counter pain relief medication called Syndol which contains a muscle relaxant/ antihistamine/ sedative called Doxylamine Succinate. This is excellent for relieving neck muscle spasm. It does also contain Codeine so has to be used responsibly. NOTE: Talk to your doctor before taking any medication for your neck or back pain.

say what? SALONPAS!

Two nights ago I woke up with just a sore on my neck, but by the end of the day my neck was stiffer then a stiffy. It hurted so bad the pain rediated from my neck to my back. Anyways, my sister sugested Salonpas its a pain relieving patch made specificallly for relief of minor aches & pains of muscles & joints. This stuff really works. As soon as I put it on, my pain started to improved. It feels like icy hot on a sticker. It comes in 40 patches to a box for only 2.99. Go to any asian market and have one of the workers help you look for it. They will know exactly what your talking about. Good luck!!

Remedy

Yestderday I woke with a crick in the neck. Before work I stopped by Walgreens and bought a $3 ThermaCare neck warmer. Best purchase in my life!!! Once activated by air and placed on the neck it immediatly heats and lasts for 8hrs+, it also is a nice reminder to not turn in that direction, or if having to you can still turn but with less pain.

1 thing I didn't read...

I read through these responses to see if there was anything I was missing, but only found the movements-with-your-mouth-open part new (& sounds helpful.) When I get them I do (almost) everything suggested - working it, heat, massage, rest, but there are a couple things I sometimes add to this mix that help a lot. First, I stop sleeping on any pillow. I just lay totally flat on the bed for a few nights, because I personally am OK with sleeping on my back. But one thing no-one mentioned that works wonders for me is a tennis ball. Particularly when it's one of those cricks that kinda involves my upper back/shoulder blade area. I position a tennis ball just above my shoulder blade, slightly in toward my spine (there's a muscle there) and lay on it on a hard surface (the floor). Make no mistake, it hurts, but if you really focus on relaxing all the muscles around it, it gets better. Then I just lay on it for a good long while, sometimes repositioning the ball somewhat. Hope this helps!

crooks

Ughhhhh I have a bad crook in my neck what should I do I'm only 12 years old hellpp
—Guest jada

try the therapeutic clay pad

they got these plastic packs filled with brown clay that you heat in the microwave and then cover with this cloth pack it comes with, it cut the pain in my neck in half, or more. I heated for a minute and 30 seconds, rested it on my neck, and a half hour later, WHALLA! it worked really well. I would just turn my head to the right where the pain was, every now and then, and each time I could turn my head a fraction more, barely any pain involved!
