Scoliosis

Thursday August 10, 2006

Scoliosis is a side-to-side abnormal curvature of the spine. Scoliosis cases run the gamut from quite mild to disfiguring and in rare instances, life-threatening. Much attention is rightfully focused on scoliosis in children - the earlier it is diagnosed, the better chances the patient has to minimize its effects for life.

For others, the long-term effects of a curved spine diminish overall breathing capacity, cause reversable back pain and alter body image. These effects can be addressed and managed by the adult with scoliosis.
