With the holidays around the corner, I'd like to issue a friendly warning for those of us who love food. Your weight may well affect the status of your back pain. For example, in my Guys with Guts blog post from 2007, I quoted a Finnish study that found a relationship between carrying extra around the middle and disc problems.
Weight carries other potential risks to your back, as well. Read about them in my article Obesity and Back Pain.
And by the way, if you're wondering whether making the effort to lose weight will reduce your back pain - my opinion is a resounding yes!
