Posture related back pain quite often begins at the hips. If your hip joints are stiff from sitting all day, or if you have developed habits during which the usual position your pelvic bone is not level or balanced, a number of maladies could occur (or get worse):

So what can you do? First, it's important to maintain some type of back exercise program, whether it's a water exercise routine, a posture related program such as the Egoscue Method or plain 'ole yoga. Specifically, programs that emphasize alignment and work with the position of the hips will help get your core stabilized and the muscles around your hip joints and pelvis strong, flexible and balanced.
