Skeletally Mature Scoliosis

Scoliosis curves are measured and expressed by degree. The higher the degree the more the scoliosis is said to be “severe”.

Curves in children that are 30 degrees or less tend not to progress once the child is skeletally mature. So, after this point scoliosis screening and monitoring can be stopped. Curves that measure greater than 30 degrees keep progressing during adulthood.

An excellent form of exercise to minimize pain and breathing difficulties due to scoliosis in adults is Pilates.
