The Role of the Spinal Curves in Injury and Injury Prevention
A continual bending forward of the neck and/or low back is a precursor to serious injury, for example: - in those areas.

Herniated disks in the thoracic area are less common, but they do happen. Too much extension of the upper and mid back (for example if someone were to install wallpaper for a living) may disrupt the thoracic spine. In our culture, however, this is rare, because most of us are focused forward as we drive, sit at our computers and other activities.
