Question: What is Prolotherapy?

Now that Vioxx has been pulled from the market, people are asking, 'what will I do'? For some a new treatment call Prolotherapy is providing that answer.

Answer:

Prolotherapy is an injection that relieves musculoskeletal pain. The injection is made where the strength of ligaments have been compromised.

The solution that is used in Prolotherapy produces inflammation in such a way that the body's resources for making new connective tissue are called into play. The result -- stronger ligaments and tendons.

Prolotherapy is excellent for back pain. There are many ligaments in the spine (26 spinal bones with several ligaments each). Often it is a comprised ligament that causes back pain. Prolotherapy targets the ligaments.

Prolotherapy is also effective in cases of arthrithis, fibromyalgia, whiplash, sciatica and disk problems.

The number of qualified doctors specifically trained to administer Prolotherapy is currently growing.
